The Islita team had the pleasure of visiting Ukraine, earlier in March. The trip was almost surreal. It was an honor to experience Eating and sleeping with the refugees. It was humbling to hear the stories of their families being torn apart and having to walk through the snow, after their cars ran out of gas, and make the journey through the five day line at the border. It was heart wrenching to hear their stories of being separated from their spouses and children. It was all such a sacred privilege, to serve them at the field hospital in Warsaw, while supervising interns and residents, including one night with only 20 minutes of sleep. In addition to this, the foundation gave thousands of dollars of care and supplies to the refugees, and be part of saving several lives of people who were critically ill. Our thoughts and prayers continue to be with the people of Ukraine.
